ABOUT TOM WALL

For the past forty years Tom has dedicated himself to his community and those around him.  He has now decided to combine his life experiences with his desire to serve the community by running for Mayor of Ann Arbor where he feels he can make a difference.

If you tell Tom it can’t be done he will work diligently and creatively to get the job done.  Tom is a take-charge kind of guy who communicates well with all kinds of people.

Tom is a native Ann Arborite who attended Dicken Elementary, Slauson Middle School and University High School. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University, where he played college football, while earning Bachelor and Master degrees in Special Education. After graduating, Tom was a Special Education Teacher with Willow Run Schools for 30 years and also coached basketball and football there. In addition to his teaching position, Tom also was the Camp Director of the YMCA’s Camp Al–Gon-Quian for three years, helped to market and promote the University of Michigan Hockey Team for one season, and founded the All Star Driver Education School which has grown to over 30 locations in the State of Michigan and 5 locations in Arizona. Tom formed the T. Wall Foundation whose goal is to help special need kids have a more fulfilling life.  Tom Wall has been married for almost 40 years and has 2 adult children; Brent, and Kari and a Golden Retriever named Puddy.

As a Special Education teacher he learned quickly to listen to his special students and earned their respect and trust by being sincere and telling the truth, he stood by his promises and learned early on not to disappoint them.

With absolutely no experience Tom quickly learned how to run Camp Al-Gon-Quian and market and promote the University of Michigan Hockey Team.

For the past 11 years Tom has practiced fiscal responsibility in the business world as he created and expanded All Star Driver Education.
Tom’s broad background as an educator, businessman, foundation director and community involvement resulted in him being nominated as a candidate for the Ann Arbor News’ Citizen of the Year in 2004
